چکیده
Tip vortex cavitation is typically the first type of in real ship propellers due to scale effect. To lessen or eliminate propeller noise, it necessary effectively identify and predict tip initiation run as far possible “non-cavitation area.” However, for current numerical computation, impossible determine minimum pressure at core directly correctly, making difficult anticipate vortex. In this paper, based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations model proposed by Xin [Proceedings 2013 Ship Hydrodynamics Conference (2013), pp. 211–218], we propose a new prediction method initiation—“the method.” The solved CFD calculation model, downstream examined cavitation. We examine inception using compare results obtained coefficient vapor volume method. It discovered that number closer experimental results. Furthermore, effects different turbulence models grid settings are investigated, providing an effective reference initiation.

Effects of model size and free stream nuclei on tip vortex cavitation inception scaling
Because of the complexity of the flow field in a trailing vortex, prediction of tip vortex cavitation inception on a hydrofoil or a propeller still relies heavily on model tests and application of cavitation scaling. Experiments indicate that the major parameters influencing tip vortex cavitation inception are fluid viscosity (Reynolds number) and free stream nuclei (Weber number). A scaling me...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Cavitation Inception on Radial Flow Pump
Pump cavitation is the formation and subsequent collapse or implosion of vapor bubbles in a pump. It occurs when the absolute pressure on the liquid falls below the liquid’s vapor pressure. This paper describes the validation of cavitation inception on a radial flow pump which develops 21m of head at 26lps of discharge at its best efficiency point (BEP) of discharge while operating at a speed o...

This paper describes a computational procedure which is being developed for the practical analysis of propeller sheet cavitation and propeller-ship interaction including hull pressure fluctuations. The computational procedure consists of three different, coupled methods: (i) a RANS method for the analysis of the viscous flow around the ship hull and the determination of the velocity field in th...
متن کاملTip Leakage Vortex Cavitation from the Tip Clearance of a Single Hydrofoil
Focusing on the tip leakage vortex cavitation, experimental and numerical studies were carried out as the first step of the investigation of cavitations in tip leakage flow. For a single hydrofoil with a tip clearance, tip leakage vortex cavitations were observed for various cavitation numbers and angles of attack. To simulate the tip leakage vortex cavitation, a simple calculation of 2-D unste...
متن کاملTowards numerical prediction of cavitation erosion.
This paper is intended to provide a potential basis for a numerical prediction of cavitation erosion damage. The proposed method can be divided into two steps. The first step consists in determining the loading conditions due to cavitation bubble collapses. It is shown that individual pits observed on highly polished metallic samples exposed to cavitation for a relatively small time can be cons...
